VCLA Practice Tests

Each practice test features a unique set of test items. The writing practice tests also feature sample responses to the short-answer items, the Writing Summary assignment, and the Writing Composition assignment.

Links to practice tests for the VCLA reading and writing subtests, in PDF format, are provided below. These practice tests are designed to help you prepare for and become familiar with the structure and content of the subtests in order to contribute to your effective preparation for a successful test-taking experience.

To maximize the benefits of this test-preparation tool, it is recommended that you take your practice test in a quiet setting with few interruptions. Limit yourself to the four-hour time period allotted for the official test administration and use the answer documents provided to evaluate your responses. Your performance on a practice test should be used as only one indicator of potential strengths and weaknesses in your knowledge of the content covered by the actual test.
